John Spiers, MA, is the lead instructor of this initiative. Practicing small business international trade since 1974, John began teaching his expertise in international trade in 1984 as a sideline and gained a bachelor's in Asian Studies from University of Washington and a master's of arts in educational administration from Seattle University (thesis on self-supporting continuing education). With his background in international trade, John is uniquely suited to lead an effort promoting "free trade in education worldwide."
John Hicks, BA, MBA, JD; is counsel to the company. He is a partner in the law firm of Ballard Law Group, PLLC with entity organization, tax and accounting expertise.
Primarily assisting start-up businesses in the USA, his more interesting projects range from privatization in Croatia to nationalization in Pago Pago.
He also has entertainment law and business experience in the film and television industries. Included among his experiences have been raising financing for the TV pilot "Spytalk," a project chronicling the espionage game, based on the experience and expertise of ex-Mossad agent Victor Ostrovsky. His firm also initiated and packaged the feature film project "Giallo" directed by Italian directing legend Dario Argento and starring Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody and "Game of Death," an homage to the iconic Bruce Lee starring mega action star Wesley Snipes. He also acted as lead counsel on the film noir project "Mysteria," starring Danny Glover, Martin Landau and Billy Zane and is currently working on the thriller "The Drummer," starring Danny Glover.
Richard Opheim, BA, is a writer, editor, translator and former teacher of writing and translation at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. He is editor-in-chief at Seattle Teachers College.
